After a tiring day of work or studies you might want to play some games but "HEY you are an AMERICAN!!!! You can't enjoy like everyone else because you make more MONEY!!! You gotta pay us more than what we deserve!!!
Unfair... This is unfair... Let me explain everything from start. So right now each game development studio raises a capital to produce a game that is GOOD and sells more. They have to get a certain amount of ROI (Return On Investment) on this game because otherwise they won't make profits for their investors and won't be able to pay for all the stuff. So they have two options: 1. Price the game low and decrease the entry barrier so more people will buy the game and that will generate the profits. 2. Price the game really high so the people that are capable of paying more from start give you all their money! On the long run the first option sounds great. But there's a catch, A gamer will pay for less priced game and then what? After a week or so when he finished the game he will want to move on to other game. The real problem is here, Now he won't be able to afford more games. So even if the studio price the games less, They still won't make money because these people won't be able to purchase more games. Now this results in studios just focusing on high priced games and targets the audience that is capable of paying more money!
This is the reason why Americans are the target audience of AAA studios and this is also the reason for high prices of games. This is also the reason for more piracy in countries with less household disposable income.
One reason and many problems. How could we as a community solve this?
It is simple but not easy. The answer is to have a subscription based model for games. Okay yeah I know about Xbox game pass and I am not talking about that. I am saying that something has to fundamentally change. Something that changes how games are made and distributed. Now this is how you could do a shift from marketplace model to subscription model.
Who is doing this?? The answer is no one! Okay there are some services that you might have heard of but the thing is there is no one stop solution for this. There is no one place where you could go and get all the value you desire at a low price which has a main goal of getting more people on the platform and not just charge more money.
This is what I am trying to solve with my startup VZEYA.
The aim we have is to change from the creation. We are not going to promote the standard standalone games that are made with the sole purpose of selling copies and making money. We are going to have a platform where development studio have to divide their game into parts and these parts are then published individually giving a clear vision to the player about what time he's going to spend on the platform. The more a studio hooks the player into playing more will be paid more.
We have to shift to attention economy even in games. We cannot move forward without this. Because this is going to spread the games worldwide to a wide audience decreasing the overall price of games. decreasing the entry barrier to gaming and that is how we change the entire gaming industry with one idea.
I am going to build this with my knowledge and capabilities. I will need capital, feedback, talent, team and much more than this. We need games on the platform and we need players to play these games on the platform. if you want to support us then you're welcomed to the journey we are taking.
